Hi buddies!
Happy New Year! I love saying that. Time is fake but cycles are real, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to reset and renew.
It's a quiet month for me, show-wise, but I'm doing a lot of recording, rehearsing, and playing with our new cat, Miso. Here's a small missive from him:

I have a *big announcement* coming on January 18th, so I'll keep this one short and just mention these shows coming up this month:
January 12th 7:30pm - Solo - Mediums of Sound @ Chicago Red Room (1711 Honore)
January 17th, 6pm - duo with Katinka Kleijn - Chicago Cultural Center Exhibition Hall, in response to Luftwerk's Exact Dutch Yellow. INFO.
January 27/28 7:30pm, 29th 3pm - Manual Cinema's Frankenstein - Studebaker Theater, as part of Chicago International Puppet Festival. INFO.
plus, a tiny list of big recommendations:
1. Alison Roman's Spiced Braised Short Ribs with Creamy Potatoes. So good. Just bright and spicy enough to balance the big beef energy. N and I made it a few weeks ago and it was so good that my mom and I made it for Christmas dinner.
2. Jayber Crow, by Wendell Berry. Not like anything I've read in a while, a novel about a barber in rural Kentucky in the mid 20th century. heartbreaking, uplifting.
3. Put some good wine in a little mug and go for an evening walk with a neighbor (hi, Macie!).
4. Mikel Patrick Avery's latest album, Sore Thumb. Love everything this guy makes.
Happy January!

Ooh! What a lovely note and that there is my favorite style of cat! Hi Miso! 💐
